About Dove’s Founder
DOVE Missions was founded by Liz Sunel in 2002 and became a 501(c)(3) in 2004.
For 6 years, Liz led mission trips from Minnesota to Puerto Plata where she led volunteers in service projects to help local organizations and orphanages. Liz organized volunteer activities focusing on feeding programs, a dump ministry and educational programs in collaboration with local Dominican organization. In addition, DOVE volunteers also participated in building two churches: one in Cristo Rey, Puerto Plata, and the other in Maimon. In 2008, Liz moved to Puerto Plata to work full time as DOVE Missions’ Field Team Director. In this capacity she guided and supervised volunteers from all over the world.
As Executive Director, Liz led the biggest accomplishment of the organization by bringing the Dove Missions YouthDevelopment Center to fruition. Liz manages all employees andvolunteers working in the center and the six surrounding barrios. In addition, Liz travels to the States to spread the word about DOVE Missions and encourages participation in fund-raising efforts.
“The day I set foot in this country, I knew God was calling me to put my faith into action. I encourage others to participate in this ministry, to act on your call to help the poor. If we all do our part, do good and share with others, our own lives will be changed for the better!” ~ Liz Sunel
